I am a former community college administrator with 33+ years experience in job training and economic development. I created and coordinated academic and job training programs for a ten-county region with proven experience in successfully bringing diverse partners to the table.
Committed to bringing a fresh start to rural politics and to the revitalization of rural communities, I have focused my campaign on connecting communities to create regional economic development and job growth in southern Iowa while maintaining small town values and quality of life.
I am a native Iowan from Appanoose county. I grew up in Centerville. I come from a family of immigrants, coal miners, blue collar workers and farmers. I graduated from Centerville High School and Centerville Community College. I graduated from William Penn University with a degree in English and earned a Masters degree in Education Administration at Truman State University.
I have been married to my husband Tom for 40 years and I am the proud mother of three grown sons. I live in Ottumwa. My roots in southern Iowa are deep and I am very proud to have come from a family and an area that values a strong work ethic, a commitment to maintaining small town life and small town values while always working toward a better future.
