Our small towns and rural areas are the heart and soul of Iowa and need to remain a viable option for rural living for thousands of Iowans. Incentives for rural communities are important to maintain their viability. Not all Iowans want to or can afford to live in large metropolitan cities and they shouldn’t have to. Incentives for economic development, rural infrastructure and housing can help communities remain vital and guarantee a good quality of life for rural Iowans. Those incentives will also help to retain our young people and to attract newcomers to our small towns and cities.
I will fight for:
- incentives for startup and expansion of small businesses in rural communities
- increased incentives for funding new construction and renovation of existing housing to meet the demand for residential housing
- development of local investment partnerships
